1..the most important festival of western odisha nuakhai 2..comprising the district of sambalpur, balangir, kalahandi, nuapada, sundargarh and some areas of phulabani, baragarh, chhattisgarh culture is nuakhai 3..generally it takes place in the bright half of the month of bhadrab..September 4..on this occasion old and young children all wear new clothes 5..the festival is intended for eating new rice of the year 6..it is generally festival meeting of friends and relatives singing, dancing, and merry-making are parts of the festival .. on this occassion, the new rice is cooked with milk and sugar(to make khiree କ୍ଷୀରି ) and than offered as bhog to goddess laxmi. then the eldest member of the family distributes the same as prasad(ପ୍ରସାଦ ) to other members. 8..କ୍ଷୀରି ପିଠା ନୁଆଁରଧାନଚୁଡା ଏତକ 9.. tree day celebrated this culture baasi tyashi drinking alcohol eating meat dancing village song singing better think taking greeting nuakhai juhar(ନୂଆଖାଇ ଜୁହାର ଏଟା ଆମର ତିହାର ଜୁହାର କରିକରି ଦେଖା ସତ

Ratha Yatra .. ରଥ ଯାତ୍ରା

ratha Yatra .. ରଥ ଯାତ୍ରା 1..this spectacular chariot festival is held at the famous jagannath temple in puri.ratha Yatra is also known as the car festival.this festival is celebrated in the Asadha month of the Hindu calendar , on the second day of the lunar fortnight, that falls during June-july. 2..Rath Yatra is celebrated in the honour of lord Jagannath who is believed to be an incarnation of Vishnu.One of the many legends goes that indradyamana, the king of Avanti, went to puri to have darshan of Vishnu, but he found that the God had disappeared . The sage Narad assured indradyamana that Vishnu would appear before him in the temple in the form of three wooden images. when a big tree , radiant with light was seen floating in the sea, Narada told him to make tree idols out of it and place them in a pavilion.indradyamana got Visvakarma- the architect of Gods-to build a magnificent temple to house the idols and Vishnu himself appeared in the guise of a carpen
